Daily Training of a Polymath
- SEP 2023: Farewell message. I signed up here a year ago, because I'm from the old days of geocities and was looking for something similar that didn't require me to set up a new website with all the overhead maintenance (I know the good and the bad and it's just a time trade-off in maintenance that I wish not to have), like the difference between owning and renting a yacht or jet--if I own it, I might as well own the whole company with a team that does maintenance and sells services. Personal update from me: In the past year I've travelled around the world three times, my businesses have generated many millions of new dollars in revenue, I've trained over 20 languages with the help of these pages, I've accumulated almost 40,000 pushups in 2023 alone, restricted fasting, I feel great and in great health after my last blood test.
- All of the languages still need a great deal more work. But they all improve year after year. The purpose of this site was a place for me to put my mental training, not a place for my physical training or business thoughts. I'm closing down this site because I maximised my usage up to 1GB across nearly 2000 content pages (text only) and the site became increasingly sluggish (dashboard and loading of page editing). Obviously the paid version is not an issue, the issue is maintenance of so much and interlinking, and of course my overhead time cost. At the end of August an employee introduced me to an app called Obsidian, and after a few trial days, I purchased all of it. Using the Zettelkasten (flashcard) method for putting your ideas and thoughts onto cards, it provides an interlinking system for organising everything you know. I was sold. Not only can I read everything in web format synced across my devices, but I can also edit it anytime I like. I can decide to make things public facing or not, so I now already have several thousand pages set up there (more than double what was here) because I can put all my private, scheduling, business, just everything, all in one place. It's not stored in a cloud elsewhere but synced in text files on the devices I have it installed on (and nowadays several GB of data on our devices is no big deal), and I can now back up those files to my external backup every month or so. Not only that, but it is planting the seeds of future real-world publications and books I'd like to write. I'll continue to do my language training while doing several hours of my exercise routine daily. While it would be nice for my readers to keep up with me, I'd rather stay low-key, disappear into the ether, and just know that perhaps I left a positive imprint on somebody out there in the world out of the minuscule 50k visits this page got. I might come back and leave updates in the future. Who knows, the stranger you strike up a conversation with on Boracay or Samet or Palm Jumeirah might just be me.
